Three Jobs Wearing the Same Name
Replacing cabinets and countertops is not one project with one duration. It is three, and what separates them is not a week here or there.

The Countertop Cannot Start Until the Cabinets Are In
The two halves of this job run one after the other, and that is the part most schedules get wrong.
Stone is templated on the cabinets after they are set, anchored and level, because it is cut to those exact box positions and that exact overhang. So the countertop weeks do not run alongside the cabinet weeks. They begin the day the boxes are finished, and ordering the slab early does not move that date, because what waits for the template is fabrication rather than material.
Two other things are held up by the same rule and are worth having ready. The sink and the faucet have to be on site before the template appointment, since the cutout is made to that exact bowl and that exact hole spacing. The undercounter appliances set the height the fabricator works to.
Then plan for the gap between the two installations: cabinets standing, no counter on them yet. It is short, and it catches out anybody who was given a single number.
What Actually Stalls the Calendar
Almost nothing that adds weeks to this is work. It is a decision waiting to be made, and the clock does not start where people assume it does.
It starts at approved drawings, not at signature, and every day between the two is added at the front of the project. That stretch is the one part of the schedule a homeowner controls completely. The next gate is the slab, which means a specific piece of stone reserved on a specific day rather than a color chosen off a sample. After that comes the template appointment, and it needs the sink, the faucet and the undercounter appliances settled.
